A Little Intelligence Can Be a Dangerous Thing.

Standard Deviation is a full-length, two act comedy about
contrasts. The play takes place in the fictional town of Stillman's Corner, a
tiny rural town in West Central Alabama. When a biochemist from New York City
uses the unsuspecting town as subjects for an intelligence experiment, he finds
himself suddenly arrested and imprisoned where he is at the mercy of their
overbearing sheriff.
According to Frances Baum Nicholson of The Pasadena Star News, Standard
Deviation is "... a gem. The true star is the script ... Often
playing against stereotype, it offers real comedy as well as certain insight on
the human condition. The characters have a sense of realness to them, which is
often quite engaging. You like these people. You care about how they react to
being changed."
- Winner of the 1998 David James Ellis Memorial Playwriting Award.
- Produced November and December, 1998, by Theatre Americana in
Altadena, California.
