Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this my first play?

Gosh, no. I wrote it back in 1993. It saw its first production in 1999. These things take time ...

2. How long did it take me to write it?

Not long -- about four months, which included editing.

3. Which character is me?

To paraphrase Neil Simon: all of them are. Bits of pieces of me are in all of them, and all of them are seen through my eyes. But none of them are exclusively me.

4. Are the characters people I know?

No. I do, however, write them for people I know so I can "hear" a voice when writing their dialogue. These people, however, don't know it. I did borrow names from people I know, though.

5. Could the play be done as a one-act?

Hey, in theory it could be done as a 7-minute cartoon, but I'd never sanction it. I have, though, considered developing it as a sitcom. Anyone interested?

6. What's with all the Alternate Last Pages

At this moment, the last page is in question. It doesn't change anything about the story, but there's a last "zing" before the curtain that I'm under deliberation with. Eventually I'll settle on one, and this question will disappear from the site.

7. How can one get a copy of the play?

The entire first act is available on this website. If you're a producing company or can somehow expedite a production, drop me an E-mail and I'll snail mail or e-mail a copy out (if e-mail, please specify format or you'll just get it as a .PDF).
