04/15/08 - Here's a rarity. Yes, I've written lots of Children's plays and they've been performed all over the world. But, for Maggie's Little Theater's second show, they not only produced my Children's play "Spring is for the Birds," but it was done with an all adult cast! The play was edited down so it could be done with a smaller cast than the requisite 34 or so, and directed by my wife, Miriam P. Denu. (The photo on the right shows Rosalia Gattuso, Miriam and myself.) Following the play for the 4 performances was a theater workshop for the children, also conducted by Miriam.
Though all parts in the show were small, we managed to get an All-Star cast for it and, as a result, had a great time pulling it together! Check out the pictures!
10/13/07 - It's all about the Band Geeks, baby!! After literal YEARS of work, the script is as done as it can be right now sans development, all the music is done and all the permissions are secured. All I need now is a production. (Yeah, yeah -- don't we all?)
04/12/07 - This year's school play is finished and ready for production! The title is Keeping Up With the Joneses, and it's a snapshot of life in 1955 as a family crosses the country to attend the opening of Disneyland.
03/02/07 - No, I haven't joined the priesthood. This is me playing Father Drobney in Parkside Players' February 2007 production of Don't Drink the Water. It was a fun run, and I want to give my sincere thanks to all my fellow cast members -- and especially Ray. This one's for you, Cheese!
10/16/06 - It's all about F2F, baby! Beari Productions' presentation of F2F went up and down in October 2006. Weekend 1 was admittedly a little bumpy, but by weekend two, it was rockin' at full speed. Actors Jimmy O'Neill and Amanda Doria nailed the script and gave stellar performances in what was a very satisfying show (in my opinion). But is it over? Have we seen the last of the Man and Woman from fifty years in the future? Maybe not! Talks are ongoing to see if we can take this into the City ...
8/11/06 - I'm Going Back to Hell! After submitting countless times to the McLaren Memorial Playwriting Competition, hosted by theThe Midland Community Theater in Midland, Texas, When Hell Freezes Over has been selected as one of the three finalists!! They'll hold a staged reading in September to choose the winner. I'll be attending the fest, so look for some sort of word on it shortly thereafter!
4/23/06 - The Dog is still alive!!! The Gaslight Theater in Lockhart, Texas, is producing Nobody Knows I'm a Dog April and May, 2006. I was able to attend one of the performances, where I was greeted by the Mayor of Lockhart as well as much of the City Council, and the members of the Gaslight Theater as well.
2/3/06 - Beari Productions' presentation of When Hell Freezes Over has come and went. You can check out the blog of the process. On hand (L-R) is Amie Backner, Greg Johnson, Glenn R. Overall the production went quite well, though we faced obstacles during the performances including the Super Bowl, Rene having a kidney removed and a blizzard. I think we pissed off Satan!

Writing Updates
This year's school play is finished and ready for production! The title is Keeping Up With the Joneses, and it's a snapshot of life in 1955 as a family crosses the country to attend the opening of Disneyland.
The script to Band Geeks is long since finished, the music is finished and all of the permissions have been secured. Production, anyone?
And speaking of band geeks, I'm writing a piece right now that is a combination one-man show and music recital. The show, entitled Around the World in E-flat, is basically a music recital that takes some time to explain the evolution of the Mellophone, Tenor Horn and other alto brasses, as well as the stories behind the solo pieces that complete a tour around the world. It's still in the works.
Lyrics have been completed for the musical version of King of the Mutants and a few folks are considering writing the score.
Don't get too twitchy, but I now have three projects I'm working on. None have come out as the one that will actually see completion, but the working titles are The Master of Disaster, Jury Duty, Adult Supervision, Second Class Citizens, Back Office and Jupiter. No hints regarding what they will be about will be posted (don't want to jinx 'em!).
